Description
Knit your pet a custom sweater! It’s easier than beginners might think, and it’s a great project to give you the confidence to knit a sweater for yourself! Level up your knitting by learning about measuring gauge, increases, and customizing patterns! Following this workshop’s “recipe” you’ll be able to use the yarn and needle size of your choice – just make sure it has the characteristics you’re looking for (e.g. washable!). In this 90 minute workshop we’ll go over the basic sweater construction, and customize your sweater to your dog (e.g. our pictured model Renzo is barrel-chested and needed a bit more turtleneck with some extra enforcement so it doesn’t slip down). Our goal is to have you leave with the confidence to tackle the rest of your project, and if you need additional project support, you can always come back again for Quick Help or in a Bring Your Own Project class!
Please note: Please reference our Class Policy or Help Center for more details on classes, or email [email protected].
Cancellation Policy: For all workshops, please communicate with instructors at [email protected] ahead of the date if you’re unable to attend or call the store. Please note that class workshops are non-refundable.
- Dates: Please select the date/time from the drop down above. If you see a workshop of interest but have a scheduling conflict, we can work that topic into a BYOP as well – we have lots of flexibility in this class. Simply select BYOP in the drop down window and email [email protected] to schedule.
- Skill Level: Advanced Beginner
- Prerequisites:Â Knit, purl, knitting in the round
- Yarn + Class Materials: When you sign up for the workshop you will be emailed with a list of measurements needed from your dog. Your homework ahead of the workshop will be to create a small swatch with your chosen yarn (instructions will come with completed registration) – so you will need to gather materials as appropriate for small circumference knitting. We recommend you start with a washable worsted weight yarn such as Cascade 220 Superwash or Malabrigo Rios and appropriately sized double pointed needles (DPNs) or preferred method for small circumference knitting. Please reach out to us if you need help by emailing [email protected]. (Note: While you’re encouraged to bring your own needles/notions, we request that yarn used in classes be purchased at MFY.)
- Cost:Â $25 + materials
